Neocron Bug with Launcher HELP HELP

Postby Jason Cage » Wed Dec 31, 2003 1:36 pm

A Mate of mine has NC, just recently re installed and when he comes to run the game he gets a screen to choose Drivers for sound / GFX etc.. we all get it first time,,however theres nothing there, he has previously had NC running and working with the same setup

Has a recently updated PC with uptodate GFX / Drivers / Etc and should all be working,, i have checked his XP and it seems to be working, tried the compatability thing (run in 98 mode etc)

someone please help meh as i cant think what is wrong with it

I'm only spending 60 seconds on this, and thus I won't be providing anything thorough. I suggest downloading and installing an updated version of DirectX from the following site:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=141D5F9E-07C1-462A-BAEF-5EAB5C851CF5&displaylang=en

I'm thinking that DirectX/Direct3D is out of date.

i would try these things

Check files
run configure neocron again
reinstall Neocron
reinstall sound drives
reinstall graphic card drives
kick computer
turn off computer for 2 mins to reset the ram on the graphic sound and motherboard (had a problem with my graphic card that a error would keep on the ram till i turned off power to the computer)
pray to god
Get on a plane and kill kk
redown load neocron launcher (ftp://ftp.neocron.com/retailpatches/NeocronLauncher.exe)
one of them might work

best advise is a reinstall probably, saves you more time than figuring out what exactly is wrong :p

i dnt wanna do a win reinstall till last cause its not my PC, the other games workin fine, its just fucked, he used the same patches that i did, an it didnt work an he did a download too an that didnt do anythin,, done a few complete installs, it just seems to keep being fucked, we done driver installs etc its just the gfx / sound driver selection screen thats not workin so we eliminated the modem since it dials up an connects to NC ok,

Tech support got no ideas what the fck is goin on, they suggest do Direct X which we already done like 3 times, tried 8.0 and 9b or somthin like that, its completely SCREWED heh, im gona tell him to backup his shit an format the PC lol since zane's idea of a bad registry entry seems the most valid at this point :( ahh well thanks for the help guys

Ok, this is what I did........

I installed NC on my main PC, played it fine for about 6 months....then did a TS install, after which the normal install FRE'd when I loaded it.

I have 4 PCs on my network, my test box, my servers (2) and my main PC. I installed NC on my test box, worked fine, then I just did a straight directory copy from test to main, it all works fine now.

So, do a fresh install on another PC, and delete ur NC directory (dont uninstall) and copy the new one there in its place. Should work.

Edit: Run the config app afterwards to reconfigure NC, it should give you options.
