That's right. Both my boss and I have been made redundant because the government organisation we worked for is now fully outsourcing the IT.

So as of today, I don't need to be up at 6:30am. Of course, this also means that I'm looking for a new job

C'est la vi

Actually my job got outsourced to India but I had the common sense to see it coming and got another position. Still firefighting though :/

Pah.. don't give me sympathy.. :D

I get 4 grand for sitting on my arse, not to mention shit hot references and 2 years exp under my belt in government IT security.

Oh, and I'm technically still employed until the end of February. Thus my CV will state 2002-Present. So it won't look like I'm a layabout bum :D

Fuck the government! Give me my redundancy check mother bitches!

our company had their IT outsourced to India.

Now they are shite and it takes 5 hours to do a 30 second task

Wow.. that's fast!

Sometimes it took me 3 days to think about getting off my ass to plug someones monitor in :D

Na, the organisation I used to work for outsourced to another part of the government and will have it's security downgraded to hook into the GSI. And then have no on-site IT. Hence we are now surplus to requirements.

Oh well, I'm actually better off this way.

For a second I was going to say "aww shit man" but after seeing that you're going to be doing really well even with the redundancy kicking in, I'm now thinking "good shit!"

Not always good to hear that someone is being made redundant, but since you seem pretty happy about it... :x

Is the people who the IT is being outsourced not taking on your job? As I thought they was legally oblidged(sp) to do so? I know a couple of people in the Linux/Security side of IT, so give me a shout on what you are looking for and I'll see if they know anything going.

There will be no on site IT staff, hence my boss and I are out of a job. It's being taken on by a Local Authority and their IT department will deal with it. And we can't tupee accross either.

But still...

Network Security and Intrusion specialist.
Linux Administrator
VB Programmer
Windows Administrator
Network Engineer
Technical Support

Pick one :D
