I just recently had gotten back into the game and for the last couple of days it seems that the server has been down. Seems also that the forums are down, what gives?

They have been down all day. I read on some random forum something about updating, but for both the game and forum to be down with no warning seems a little suspect. anyone with actual knowledge want to chime in on the subject?

Tha'ts just my luck though right there lol. I haven't played since NC1 beta/launch and I come back to try out again and its down lol. Do the servers/website always go down like this or just very bad timing on my part?

No warning? Erm... there was information in the NC Launcher, Official Forums, Twitter and Facebook all in advance, first being mentioned over a week before yesterday. There was plenty of warning

Unfortunately, based from Zoltan's Twitter feed, it is taking longer than expected due to server hardware failure But I'm sure it will be back up soon

Until feng posted the link to each of those I had zero knowledge of thier existance and the last thing I saw on the launcher was about the QA that happened. Though to be fair Id been MIA for a couple months due to wife work and moving.
Hence the last sentence asking for someone for reliable information to correct my statement.

Yea I didn't know either lol, I had just gotten back into the game myself couple days ago, so I missed the post about it. I just can't wait to start playing again!

Looks like Zoltan is starting to restore services. Hopefully not too long before Titan is back.
