Changing map

Hello,

i´m sure this topic is discussed a hundred times, but here i go again.

I´m playing in window mode (1280x800) and the world map is therefore totally useless. My location is wrong due to the fact that the original map size is 1024x768 and will not be automatically resize by the client.

My question is: How can i tell the client to use a custom map with the specific size of my choice? I can change the map to 1280x800 with Photoshop, but don´t know how to implement this.

While searching the official forums about this topic, i found a 3y old post: Make an directory in the gfx folder, name it "maps" and put your map into it. My result: Nothing changes. The client still uses the original map with the 1024x768 size.

That does sound about right, but the detail we are missing is what to call the actual map file.

Try saving the map file as terrain_800.bmp Make sure it's BMP file with 256 colours max.

Also there are other file names to try.
terrain_640.bmp
terrain_800.bmp
terrain_1024.bmp
terrain_1280.bmp
terrain_1600.bmp
