Free NC eh?

Postby Havoc One » Mon Oct 27, 2008 9:18 pm

Well, downloaded and reeinstalled earlier today sooo--

The Minsk Sisters and Sachiko are back for a test run on the new patch.

Found my Epic apartment and a few of my starter apartments. Dunno about my TH apartments as the Copbots blew me away when I GR'd there for some reason....

Managed to GR back under stealth to get my belt at least. 100 SL and a Fallen Angel so don't know exactly what the issue was. Dunno bout my TG Canyon apartments either.

Will go looking later.

Noticed Phoenix has slimmed down a lot and none of my girls are affiliated anymore. Guess Bramms had to clean up the inactives.

Mayhap see some of ya online. Need to figure out where the hunting is best these days.

Later!

The copbots probably shot you for having a weapon (anything you can't select in a safezone) out in front of them.
Also, welcome back!

Thanks Flib!

Well Sachiko went out and took down about a dozen WB's this evening, always fun with a Pistol Spy. =) Pulled 3 Techs and 100k or so in parts, not a bad night for just goofing around.

Course I will miss the 40+ tech nights in the dungeons, but oh well. =)

We'll see if Sasha can go collect some MC5 parts tomorrow night.

Also need a brush up on Nanites. Bought some heal nanites and used my TL40 injector but the healing was terribly slow. I remember it being better??? Maybe I bought the wrong ones but they were all I found in PP3.

Happy Hunting!

There's only one kind of nanites for the personal injecors. Are you certain that you're using the tl40 one?
Maybe you remember healing with the personal injector and medkits at the same time?

Maybe it was the combo of Survival kits and Nanites that healed faster. I'll get on that.

Found all of my Appartments intact! That's always good.

Eve needs to grind some Res missions and finish capping. That should take a while...

I'm having trouble staying synched for some reason. Running Vista and am plugged directly into my cable modem. I generally have to relog every other zone or so. And of course sometimes just when standing around doing nothing--- desynch.

Any tips?

For one thing, ditch Vista.
Although, that probably doesn't have anything to do with your problem.
Also, I'd say get a router, it's generally a bad idea to plug directly into the internet.
I don't think that's really the issue either though.

It sounds to me like it's more of an internet issue. You have a lot of packet loss?

Check the Vista thread on the official Neocron forums if you want. If that doesn't help, I'd say ask for help there.

Eh, I've hacked all the garbage from Vista and installed my own security. It basically runs like XP with DX10 for a few select games.

Loaded NC up on my old XP box and it disco's just as often as the Vista box does. I've got an old Cisco with a packet buffer laying around somewhere. I'll try to find it and see if that helps. Packet loss is a bit high but I expect that being west coast and about as far from the servers as I can possibly get.

And HEY!

I know some of ya'll know me and haven't said hi! Jeepers, I don't remember being that big of an ass!! But I'm old, who knows what I remember....

I wouldn't take the lack of response too personally, this community seems to be slightly inactive at the moment. Also, I could be wrong, I haven't actually been ingame since I moved to college. :(

Also, your problem seems to be in either the modem, or the overall connection. Can you try hijacking wifi from somewhere close by to see if you also have the issue there?

I'll install a wireless card and see if someone around here is unsecured. Pretty low density out here in the boonies though.

Connection is solid for all my other games. Eve, Hellgate, EQ2, Guild Wars, even a couple f2p Korean grind fest games are rock solid. NC is the only one that disconnects and it does it every few minutes.

Who knows....

That's interesting. Try running a tracerout to the Neocron server?

tracert is clean, 14 hops, no drops ~195ms ran it multiple times.

0% Packet loss after 5 min using 32byte packets. Suppose I should try with bigger but don't know what NC pushes.

I'm afraid that I have no idea then. Unfortunately, I'm not too good when it comes to connection problems.

How much ram do your machines have?

The XP box is a AthlonXP 3200 on an NForce2 board.
1gb PC3200 6/3/3/2 Radeon 9800

The Vista rig is a Dual Core X64 5200, Via board (oem...)
4gigs ram and a GForce 8800GT

Like I said though, I'm a pretty big gamer and am not having issues with anything at all except for the desynchs in NC. The game never crashes, glitches, lags or anything else. It just desynchs about every 10-15 min.

All my other games play just as well as NC, they just don't disconnect all the time. Wonder if messing with the net.ini settings would help at all. I'll search around.

Ugh, I just can't figure it out. Today I can barely GR or Zone and I'm desynching every 5-10 minutes. Can't fight or hunt. Can barely tradeskill.

Hopped on EQ2 and stayed up for several hours without so much as a lag spike.

crazy it is....
