[THN] Guides and resource movements

Excuse the crap title, but hopefully I got everyones attention. ;)

The THN admin is having a little discussion on the content patch and our resources, and one thing that has been pointed out is a lot of guides will need updating for the content patch, since everyone in the Dome will be moving out.

Now it's been suggested that the Faction epic guides are moved from the THN to the NC-Wiki, to allow the community to contribute more freely to the guides. This does lead us to a bigger question, what else could we move to the Wiki?

This is when I like to ask you for your comments.

1. What do you think of the idea in general?
2. What guides and resources do you think should stay on the THN?
3. What guides and resources do you think should move to the NC-Wiki?
4. And anything else you would like to say on the subject.

Hmm, well I would prefer to keep everything here since I don't want to have to go to some other place again for that info.
Besides everybody knows it is here, we are advertising THN as THE info site for NC often enough (something like 10 + times a day)

Could it not be copied rather then moved?

Could link from this website to the Wiki...

for instance, click resources/Missions.Arrive at Wiki Missions cat

That would make sure its accessible to all, including Resi :)

Also, to be honest, we dont know if there going to do this right. The Tsunami (i think its tsunami), missions are still borked, and some ask you to goto plaza3 to do a Low level (1-10) Reycle missions...

And the CM ones are still not fixed. If they couldnt move the proper NPC's from NC1 to NC2, what makes you think they will do it right this time...

But, lets assume they do... I think its a good idea to move some info for wiki.

What i mean is, put all the information on the Wiki, then when you click

THN/Resources/Missions you arrive at the Wiki Missions Page.

This would get people used to the Wiki, they would start bookmarking it etc, and we could still link new players to THN.org

No I don't smarty (can we please quitt the piss contest?)
I am usually online with a minimum of 3 chars and that sometimes on several servers simultaniously.
I dont want to have to alt/tab every time I need a browser, therefor I use a spare PC for that purpose.

OOC: Would like to make some other "appropriate" remarks, but exercises self control

The pair of you pack (Ressi, Pabz) it in now. No more warnings, as the next thing will be a short ban.

If anyone has a problem with a post, report it. Don't reply. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you got a problem with this, PM me.

Why not just amend the links on THN to point to the Wiki, that way you can still advertise one/the other/both... and not be incorrect in any of them? Is the wiki hosted on the same server? If so you could do some funky database linking and just frame it (nothing stopping you from framing the output if you wanted anyway)...

Am I late to the party? ;) I agree with this suggestion. Just link to the wiki epic pages from th.org. I think the ideal situation is use th.org for the item database and certain gameplay guides, and use the wiki for most other things such as quests.

For the record, I have created a category and updated the 4 epics I have done so far. :) http://wiki.techhaven.org/Category:Missions

Hmm, the Fallen Angels epic was meant as a test to see how well the THN could work using the Wiki as the source of the material, and also whether the layout was suitable. (I'm not happy with the format of tips, but that can be worked on.)

However a wiki is a wiki, so please, feel free to continue to add any other epic guides, and use the THN epic guides as a source if you wish.

I will point out, that we are in long process of re-vamping the THN epic guides and updating them, since they are almost a cut and paste of the HTML of the SXR old guides.

Also I'm going to have a chat with Delphi on the future of the wiki. I do share his concerns that very few people are willing to contribute to make it work, but in the NC world it does fall down to a few willing volunteers (Like yourself) to make it work.
