It seems to me that no matter who is in power in any time period there will always be people critical of that power, and rightly so. Not so very long ago, Britain was the empire on which "the sun never set". France too once held the honor of having their language known as the "language of diplomacy". All civilizations rise and fall, wax and wane. I am American and I do not approve of everything my country does.

The problem is not the Germans, the French, the Brits, the Americans or anyone else. The problem is that whenever you get a group of humans together, someone acts selfish, or desires more power than others and by such actions does things that are wrong (now whether you believe in right or wrong and where those ideals spring from is another discussion approaching epistemology and as such probably not suited for this forum).

As such, I personally feel that I don't care who is wrong in the above conversation. People will hate me for being American, will hate you for being British, will hate other people for some unknown other reason for no apparent supposedly "good" or logical reason. Whether they actually get to know us or not.

My conclusion after having spent a lot of recent time interacting with Japanese people (a highly racist society) is that we all have good and bad things about our culture. All I can do is try to the best of my flawed ability to discern the good from the bad and try to learn from as many people as possible.

Of course by the very basis of my argument, you would have to find this whole statement in subject because I obviously do not trust my own faculties to provide me with a truly objective viewpoint with which to judge "good" from "bad".

However, I do not think this addresses the reason why you posted the above conversation.

The reason i posted this. is becuase i was ganged up on by 3 people.. and i began to think.. maybe there right.. maybe iam a bad person.. maybe im a "ugly" person. and it scared me.. i pride myself on the fact that i dont care where ure from. that if u do something i dont like.. i dont like you for that .. not because of who or what u are .

You see, this is where people of a peaceful, non-judgemental nature refuse to be labelled anything other than Human.

If there was another race in this solar system we would all be Earthlings; and I'm sure there would be those who would then pass judgement on the 'aliens' as aposed to the 'earthlings'.

'love thy neighbour - hate the person over the road'.. *sighs* German, French, American or British.. we all can all die just as easily. we're all the same.. some people just want someone to hate, as long as it isn't themselves.

Being proud is 'wrong'.. that is.. being proud while belittling what you are not.

However, the other guy is wrong to tell you that you have nothing to be proud of.. as he fits the second part of my opening statement.

Well i look down only on the french government.

but the argument came from my dislike of imigrants into UK. i was told i was racist becuase i didnt like the Illegal immigtants. i was told i was selfish because to me. britiain should look after british first. immigrants second.

And I agree and disagree with this at the same time. Before you can help others you yourselves must be in good condition, but on the other hand it can be called selfish aswell


To finish up, everyone has the intention to be proud of their country, everyone wants to show the rest the positive things of their country, but nobody likes to talk about the negative sides.

To be honoust when I look at my own country, I can find only one thing wrong with us, we never take sides. This is both good and bad, the good part is that both america and europe (and others? no idea) wants us the lead international organisations. The bad thing is that it means our freaking polticians are or seem anyway scared of taking sides ( weakness in a way )

Now if I talk to a french dude, he will find alot more negative things of my country, things I don't think are negative(drugs policy), or maybe even things I never even thought about.

So basicly, I'm fucking proud of my country and so should you be, it is afterall your country, it represents you and everyone around you

One thing i hate based on one thing.. religion... so im a anti-christ i hate and despise christianity. and i dislike 90% of religions. iam a wiccan. and feel the abuse and pregudist from christians.. who claim "all are equal"..

I like to think the diversity of my race.. the human race.. is what represents and empowers me.

And no matter what nationality, colour or langauge you speak.. piss me off and you'll get a 12lb new rock boot in your face the same as the next guy

hmm no I don't agree on the 'church' part.

I happen to be a tibetan buddhist, for us all are equel, or well I try to think that way as it isn't realy a way of thinking and acting you learn over night in the western society.

Christians, Moslims, or any other believers are NOT evil by religian, some people just abuse the lacks in the system of their believe, and some who claim to believe don't believe at all. Offcourse that doesn't realy matter to me untill they turn it into something bad (like many arabic moslims seem to do atm)
So what they have certain customs? So what they believe in a god who may or may not exist? That doesn't that make them a good or a bad person.

Try to keep an open mind while being proud of something

I must now admit that I am Christian. I'm actually ex-wiccan to be exact. Since I am now rendered void... I will bow out of this conversation. I doubt there is anything I could say or do to convince you otherwise and I don't think I'd want to.

No. i will listen to a christian untill they start to abuse me. and try and hide behind there religion. BUT. i will not accept any of your views on religion due to the fact that chrisianity (and 90% of religions) cause more problems than they solve.

That's a pretty broad interpretation of how you legitimize people's views. I would hope my previous actions up until this point have shown me to be a rational and open minded individual. I have not attempted to "push" anything on anyone in particular in the form of religion. Neither will I begin to. Yet you strike at the very heart of my worldview with abuse and criticism. Are you not then engaging in the very activity you accuse others of?

i hate christianity with a passion. i hate it for many reasons. i hate it because of the teaching and the fact it is used by most people (in my experience) as an exuses to hide behind and to use as a way to get away with racism. prejudist and such. im truly sorry if this upsets you, but the modern day Chrisianity is as bad as hitler. (tho not all. i know two VERY good christians)
