Finally, got Longhorn working.

Posted a few screens for you all to see :)

Yep, Paint is still there. New sidebar, new window system. Using the Jade style, there's a few other nice ones.

Got this dual booting with WinXP on Wintermute- they reckon that 384MB is required in RAM but 256 runs fine. Slow, but fine :p

Also, there's a sidebar newsfeed that runs off XML- i'll post a sample XML template up later :) but might be a nice thing to put on the THN, like the latest 5 posts...

Not untill LH goes retail ofcourse :p

Only problem is with drivers. Nobody supports Longhorn yet so no sound, and generic everything else. :)

Interestingly, Firefox works on LH. Neocron doesn't though, haven't tried NC2 because of RAM problems...

I have a question... in your experience, is longhorn any improvement towards windows 2000 ? Cause since 2000 I've yet to find improvement in new windows versions... windows server 2003 is an improvement to the windows 2000 server editions but windows xp is hardly an improvement towards windows 2000 imho...

any thoughts on this?

Mmm..

Well, interms of user interface design and general usability, Longhorn wins hand-down. Now me, I hate Microsoft and avoid giving them credit whenever possible :x :x but I have to give them credit for this...

Stablility and performance wise, Longhorn will use more system resources but then that's what Alienware and AJP are for, right? :P
Explorer.exe uses around 80 megs of RAM, but it's not even in beta yet (So no PMs asking where I got it please :)) so that could change a lot.

hmm... well I gues I have to try it out some day to see it all... but it sounds like a step backwards, instead of making better programs with less code... they just add more and more buggy code and call it anew.
