The big subject of namefiltering, where to start. First of we were planning on implementing this feature for a while. We just didn't get to it until recently.

This thread was spotted and Thanatos stood at my desk asking what the plans were with this particular subject. So here it is the final and by now implemented and functional name filter.

Naming convention for NC:BDoY has been discussed
Result:

1. No special characters like ^!"§$%&/()=? etc allowed
2. Only Alphabetical
3. The player may use 2 spaces in his name, none in the beginning, none at the end, no 2 spaces behind each other
4. they may use the '-' symbol once, it will count as a space, (for names like jean-jaques)
5. Only the first letter of each part of the name can be a capital nOt pOSiBLe-name
   

Examples:
Bad formatting:

• DR00PY (zero's instead of 'o')
• -=PWn@63=-
• hEARTBREAKEh
• NiN - TendO(space-minus-space)
• rufus (space in front)

Good formatting:

• Kenjuu Boushi
• Ari-Gato Demo
• Ari Gato-Demo
• Wilfred Willy Wallace

Auto formatting:
When peoples put in names like:

• hEARTBREAKEh
• SUPER-DUPER SHOoTER
• SUPer duPER-shoOTEr

The auto formatter will change them (without asking) to:

• Heartbreakeh
• Super-Duper Shooter
• Super Duper-Shooter

These are the rules of the Neocron Character Naming Convention

Next to these basic rules a list of non acceptable names will be assembled. On character creation the wished charactername will be tested and evaluated.[/QUOTE]

To be honest, if all you want is a Caps at the end of your name, well, it's not that big a difference is it? I'd certainly not lose sleep over it.

Well I kinda respect that decision, as [TgR]HusK and [TgR]KILLER aren't very roleplayish - sure I tried to make it work in a superduper story thingy, but its rather bad normaly

However I am said on the other side that this will remove our [TgR] tag whith which I wish to identify myself as a [TgR] clan only runner when [TgR] exists that is :roll:

As for you killer... aslong as the word killer does not apear on the non acceptable names list your fine, nobody calls you tgr killer, they call you killer just killer.
(edit: you can make it a special name... 'Killer gibripper' or something? )

As for the tgr tag, it will be missed but its not the end of the world.
I never really understood why you never where into renaming the TgR clan anyway, as it never really fitted inside the neocron roleplay, we could've just used the same tag with a different meaning to it... to me the only thing that matters on the tag is the 3 characters... T...G... and R.
can still have them in my short clan name in the future, but its a tit said they refuse the option for people to identify themselves more clearely :/

for example, garyu69 .... or just garyu ? the latter isn't really gonna stick around in your mind, or my mind anyway. nothing to be recognized by now

Yea killer i know where your coming from, people are saying s"so what its
just a name" but fuck that. i made [TgR]ichi for the reason of her having
the tag and going into [TgR] when DoY hits. Hell im all for roleplay and
anyone who knows me knows that. This has nothing to do with roleplay,
its just a small group of people who cant be fucked to look at a name right
before they type it into DM.... Right now i got 3 options

1) Keep playing and get even more pissed off
2) Give all my shit away and leave
3) Get banned

But banning names such as [TgR]Killer, [TgR]Husk, [TgR]Ichi etc - dam crap I say.

I created S3-X0 initially as a RP char, a Human Robot if you wish, well his name would be fucked now anyway.

garyu69 has also been my net name for years and it always will be.

I'm all for getting rid of Lame names like the 'SUCKMYDICK' and '1337' or whatever but this is just too much taking the piss.

Like Husk wrote in his story on the RP forum, something about he still today wears his TgR tag, is that not roleplay?

I am too tired to make much sense at the moment but i am truly pissed.

and reading that thread on the forums is making me more pissed because the majority of people who are loving this idea won't lose any of their identity.

As my earlier post suggested, I am also against the idea of the "caps". It serves no bareing in this case. Peeps have been useing various caps in gaming names for years, and yes for years to come. I am one of them. I know that there are many more. And some are getting flamed for there reactions on this thread. I believe there actions are justified. Not saying that a will follow there leads or ideals, but i support them in there passions against this worthless "cap" feature. Not waving my "im such a fan boi flag" on this, in fact if I ever had one Id use the shaft to beat those responsible and all those in praise of this change.

All in all a good idea, with reasons well worth the efforts. Subtract the cap feature and you have a winner in my eyes
on further thought.. to hell with it all.
