first of all congratz
2nd, what the ?? first U use 2 harddisks in raid, which helps you against loss of data and then you start using it compressed which definatly add a much higher risc of actualy loosing data.... I can't figure why you do that

Posted: Fri May 21, 2004 12:52 pmto keep it simple, raid is a way to add extra functionality to harddisks.
you can mirror two harddisks so they contain the exact same data, if one would brake down, the other is always identical.
you can also if you wish make one virtual disk out of two harddisks, gaining a bit of speed by constantly writing on both harddisks (as an example think of a word document that when you save it saves half of the page to harddisk one and half of the page to harddisk two, both harddisks can write at the same time, which makes it twice as fast in theory.
with compression I thought he was either using smartdrive/doubledrive or the ntfs compresion system. Which means he can then store more on one harddrive with the risc of loosing alot (possibly all) data when a sector would be damage containing for example information on how it is compressed, resulting in a large chunk of unreadable data.
That is, I think' the best way to describe it to a n00b on this matters anyway
