Well let me state several reason's here :

1)mining it done by the mining company. and involves ALOT more than mining. the raw materials are then shipped back too earth via "Warp Portals". where a in depth process is needed to construct the items From the raw materials the miners supply.

Neocron uses a slightly modified version of the tribes 2 engine. and badly at that. FOM uses the Talon engine. the same that was used for AVP2, and uses it very well. also FOM is nothing like neocron. appart from perhaps a few looks and such. but read the forums and storyline.

Also they have a MUCH better player <> Dev commincation. already they have seen an idea on the forums from a player and talked it over ( Duplex the main Dev talks on the forum regular ) and they have now implamented it into the game. FOM is MUCH more my style of game. the main topic of debate now being, if you kill someone what catches u. and the main idea. The LED ( the police faction ) would have to research it.


oh and a message from the FOM team to phoenix :
"We Expect to see you guys in open beta "

Well, one annoying thing i noticed was the first person weapon gfx... The weapon obscures half teh screen! Annoying for pvp...

The people look a bit weird too... Strange facial features...

But I really liked the nice environments in the game... Very pretty, nice indoor open spaces...

The ttrailer shows nothing about how it play though, so I will hopefully get into the Beta so I can check it out...

Well, I hate to say it, but the same thing was said about Eve

However, this didn't stop it from being a totally enjoyable game for me. What destroyed the pleasure of Eve was the fact that hoards of PKs would camp portal exits and gank people as they were syncing into a new area. After about 3 hours of trying to get my ore to the right place I deleted my character (who was by then stripped of money and equipment) and uninstalled Eve.

That being said, while I do have reservations about FoM, I will of course give it a fair shake. I'm sure that most of Phoenix will give it a try during beta. When I signed up for the beta, I made mention of Phoenix, if that message from FoM is indeed an invitation to us, I think we're going to have a lot of fun

Hmm now having seen the trailer, the first 2 things come to mind.

1) Nice graphics.
2) Crap voice-over.

I guess we are not going to see the game in it's glory until open beta.

Aye, and like most dev houses that don't do AV encoding they think it's necessary to use the latest god damn codec they can get their hands on forcing me to download yet another shitty software update from microsoft

I just slapped WMP in the face and used Winamp instead of messing around with codecs (again).

Heh, I really want FoMK to come out. Can't wait for the beta to start. And it will kill Neocron because I am very unimpressed with whatever I see right now and have no real confidence in KK making BDoY anything special. While with FoMK, if they can get 10% of what they promised ready at release time, I'll be over there in a flash. (And that's just 10%). Besides, Zane, don't you think the whole concept of RPing a CEO of a company would fit MUCH MUCH better in FoMK where there are no NPCs?
