Hi
I see a lot of conflicting information on 2.2

I've been off playing EQ2 and WoW for a couple of years, got bored and just happened to go over to the NC site again and saw all the changes that have happened.

Looks like a new game from all the changes, but a lot of people appear to be extremely unhappy and saying the game is massively unfinished.

I read up on the release date thread and Brammers comments - is it really that bad? Im quite looking forward to playing again on Monday - but dont want to be badly disappointed.

Anyone shed any light?

Hey there, welcome to the THN. :)

I wouldn't say it's massively unfinished - just there are some raw edges that needed tidying up. Since I wrote that, test patch 166 and 167 came out, which did address some of the big issues, but even there are bugs in patch 167 that could be considered show stopper bugs, like LE'ed players not being able to kill mobs. (I thought the damage output curve for low TL weapons was set wrong)

If KK can fix the bugs, and not introduce any new features/bugs in the next test patch, then 2.2 will look good. The balance in PvP is good, just the PvE needs tweaking, but that looks like adjustments to numbers.

If you got an inactive account, use the 30 days free play to have a good look at 2.2.

Any other questions ask away, and also take a look at Lifewaster's guide to 2.2

Cheers for the reply and welcome.

Was only £7 to reactivate after they sorted out my main account problem - so activated as of today, weapon models are different - I certainly miss my old CS model!

I like the look of 2.2, some of the changes I see needed to happen whilst I was still playing, but better late than never eh?

I have a 2nd (and 3rd somewhere) account so I'll re-use that on monday for the 30 days, though it will probably end up being more of a bank character :)

I do have a couple of questions though if I may :)

1. I tend to play every evening (though sods law due to birthdays, concerts and work, I wont be for the next few days :/) and I was wondering what were the decent factions I should be heading towards.
There's a lot of conflicting opinion - but it certainly seems pro-city seems to be the way to go (which will be hardwork, especially being BD currently) - TT being arguably the busiest on GMT times, does that seem correct to you?

2. Cash flow
I notice im now very poor, gone are my squillions of credits due to NC1 to NC2 move. Is still hunting firemobs one of the quickest ways to solo for money?

3. Gen tank stuff
I now notice there's HC eye 3, and that my weapons look different - has there been any big changes to the tank class other than that? I see mention of a new laser cannon or something? I guess the XRR bones are still the way to go?

4. Any really obvious tips I should do? I.e ' first things first go here and do X before anything else' or 'dont go there ever' type pointers?
The game was slowly returning to me - but I was a little lost when i logged on at lunch :)

Hey evs,

Welcome to the [THN]! One of the main places you shouldnt go, at least initially once 2.2 goes live will be any of the old "high level" caves that you used to go too.

i.e.

* Chaos Caves (TG Canyon)
* Poison Caves
* Worm Tunnels
* Bat Queen

Last I heard the mobs in these caves are extremely difficult to beat even with teams. Even Warbots are now requiring a couple of people (whereas previously they could be done solo).

If you have spare time before the change to 2.2 goes live I would definatly suggest that you level your characters if they arent capped as it will be a lot harder to level come 2.2. Also go and hunt firemobs on your own and make a lot of cash, as I have a feeling that cash too will be hard to come accross come release!

Thanks Jim, i'll bear that in mind :)

Need to get my head around all the faction selling stuff for implants and weapons and such - looks bizarre.
At least there's a HC eye 3 now :)

And Napper, thanks for the offer - TT's quite a big jump from BD I think, so will have to discuss with mates, as there's 4 of us in total who are all BD - cheers.

Ok dormant question time again!

The Heavy Combat Eye 3 on the Item db says it comes from TT.
Does that mean I have to find a TT runner and get him to buy the item

(possibly running off with my cash - eek! even more so as i think that TT is hostile to TT but I could be mistaken)

Is there anyway I can buy it myself? Or is it a way KK have tried to force player trading via factions?

It was supposed to work through player run shops, although they scrapped that altogether as they decided that they couldnt (wouldnt) code it.

To get the HC3 eye you need a TT runner who has FSM access, and then
*hope* that he'll buy you one! Best bet is meet him in TH and then do an exchange, so you know your getting what you pay for.

The 2 best places to find pokers is Techhaven 2 and Plaza 1.

Sometimes you can find pokers at MB as well.

Ah that's me buggered then, TH2 was a deadzone for pokers last night and I can't go into NC without being lit up like an xmas tree by copbot fire :)

Ressi Blade sorted me out with the eye though - thankyou :)

I'll see if i can get a mate to make a pokey pokey alt, I ended getting bored looking around for pokers last night and logged due to the frustration!

Ah well, watched Casino Royale, not a bad film.

Anyhoo I digress,

My next question - DoY seems a bit 'deserted' so im tempted to switch factions to pro-city but I have a lot of minus numbers.

Someone mentioned going AFK in your appt or TH? Does sympathy gradually bring itself up to 0 now? Or is there missions I can do with such low symp? or perhaps is there a mob I can kill?

Hi, if EXLT 2 did PM you the details for eXL's vent, please feel free to log in whenever you like, even if it's just to ask for a poker or tradeskiller. We're (generally!) a friendly bunch once you get to know us :) btw, this applies for anyone, regardless of clan or faction. We should pull together for quieter times - just ask someone for the details ingame, and you're more than welcome, even if it's just for company whilst you kill that 50th Juggernaught :D

Yes, sympathies do build themselves up slowly, but this can take some time. How negative are your sympathies? There are missions you can take, but I don't have a huge amount of experience with them.

I can't log in right now, given university have tinkered with their network settings, so I won't be on vent or ingame. But if you do need help, please use that vent server that EXLT 2 gave you, and someone there will do their best for you.

Welcome back :)
