Of course you're out of your depth.. you wouldn't be learning if you weren't.. that's where I said I would help.. I will not write anything for you, but I will tell you better ways of doing what you tried to do. This then makes you go and learn how to do something. If you have VB6, then you'll likely have the MSDN on CD. If you want VB.Net.. don't ask.. never touched it.. and I'm not going to.

No technical reason.. it is probably more powerful and easier to use than VB.. even if they've completely changed everything.. but I'm a purist.. and VB was already too 'microsoft' for me. Unfortunate thing is.. It's the core language I use at work.. I get maybe 5% ANSI C in my workload.. and that's only because I managed to get the bastards to let me put a Linux mailserver in :D

I just got done working on a C#/.NET project and one of my co-workers was an old-school VB programmer. The way he described VB.NET is, "they changed everything". On the surface it sorta looks like VB, but all it apparently is (in his opinion) is VB force fed into the typical C/C++ derivative language model. While your if..else blocks, for loops, and basic syntax will be the same as VB, your access to ADO, databases and even the .NET base class architecture will essentially be the same as C#.

Now if this is true... I don't know, last time I touched VB was VB6 and I never did anything terribly in depth with it.

Who Zia, my arch-constructing nemesis?

A while back I started a little web based app, which would tell you how many bp's/parts/chems something needed in order to be built. It's live and hidden away, as I've not secured it down yet to stop people adding and deleting stuff, and it needs finishing off.

If I get some time on it this week, I'll see what I can do to it.

Sorry I knew there was a point for me to post up - if you need any VB help, give me a shout, but I'm not coding anything for you! As Zane said, it's better to have a challenge and be out of your depth, than to be bored doing it.
